The University Library is now open at full capacity, with levels 2 and 3 open on a walk-in basis, without the need to book. 

Level 4 is open for silent study and provides a 1m physically distanced space, but seats must be booked in advance.

Access to study space

Levels 2 (entry level) and 3 of the Library are fully open for walk in access. These floors have a mixture of open group study areas, open study desks and study desks with computers. 

Level 4 is physically distanced and reserved for silent study. Please book your seat on the Library booking system. Study desks with computers are available as well as standard study desks.

Group study rooms are available on Levels 3 and 4 and must be booked in advance.

Postgraduate students can book a place in the Postgraduate Study Zone.

Access to services

  • The Click and Collect service which was introduced during the pandemic is still available. This allows you to request that a book is placed aside for you to collect from the Library.
  • Laptops for loan – there are 2 self-service laptop cabinets on Level 2. Laptops can be checked out for 4 hours. Headphones are not supplied so please bring your own.
  • Well-being space – situated in the Short Loan area of the library.
  • Short Loan collection – high demand text books. 
  • Face-to-face library and IT support are available at the Information Centre.   The fastest way to get support is through Unidesk self service portal, via live chat (on your portal), or by email at (IT) or (Library).
  • MFDs (printer/copier/scanners) are available on every floor of the library.

COVID-19 safety measures

  • Face masks are mandatory in the Library building unless you are exempted under Government legislation.
  • Hand sanitisers have been installed throughout the building – please sanitise your hands on entering the library, handling stock or using facilities such as printers/ laptop cabinets etc.
  • Library users are required to wipe down desk surfaces, keyboards and mice before and after use using the antibacterial wipes provided.
