Self-isolation (quarantine) information for international arrivals

If you are coming to Stirling from outside the UK, you may need to self-isolate for 10 days on arrival. Please read all of this information thoroughly so you understand what is expected of you.

Latest guidance on international travel and self-isolation (quarantine)

If you are travelling directly from overseas to Scotland you must check the Scottish Government website for the most up-to-date information on international travel. You should also check the UK Government website if you plan to travel to Scotland via another part of the UK.

When you arrive in Scotland from abroad what you must do depends on:

  • whether the country or area you’ve travelled from is on the red list
  • whether you can evidence you are fully vaccinated

Red list

Any international student from a country categorised under the Scottish Government’s red list, is required to enter managed isolation for 10 days (11 nights) on arrival and take two COVID-19 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests on days two and eight of managed isolation. The government’s managed quarantine hotel scheme cost is rising to £2,285, however, following successful discussions with the Scottish Government, we have now received approval to support isolating students from red list countries in our own University accommodation.

The University will cover the costs for the on-campus managed isolation accommodation for 11 nights for any student beginning or returning to their studies this semester. The managed isolation package includes two PCR tests, meals and refreshments, and airport transfers from Edinburgh or Glasgow International Airports at no charge. Should students test positive for COVID-19 during their managed isolation period and are, therefore, required to extend their stay, they will not be charged an additional fee.

For more information about travelling to Scotland, please check the Scottish Government’s website, which includes details of red list countries and the measures you must take before travelling and on arrival.
